When does an Engine tune-up need to be performed?

Engine tune-ups should be performed every 25,000 to 40,000 miles, depending on driving habits and environment. Check your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance. There are also several signs to look for that will tell you when you need a tune-up. First, if your vehicle is stalling; second, if you experience a decrease in gas mileage; or third, there is a noticeable loss in power or acceleration, you should have your vehicle analized by a professional. You may need a tune-up if your “Check Engine” or “Service Engine Soon” light comes on. Again, regular tune-ups will increase your engine’s performance and extend the life of your vehicle.
